2027 Ford F-150 Adds New Engine and Hands-Free Towing Tech
September 25, 2026 | Ford News
Ford has outlined changes for the 2027 F-150, led by a new standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 replacing the 2.7-liter engine. Ford says the new engine delivers more torque in the everyday driving range, while the 5.0-liter V8 returns as an option on King Ranch and Platinum. Engine and capability figures vary by configuration, so compare the specific truck you are considering.
The other headline is BlueCruise with Towing. On eligible 2027 F-150 trucks with an active BlueCruise plan or trial, Ford says this feature can support hands-free driving while towing on designated Blue Zone divided highways. The driver must remain attentive and ready to take control. Trailer type, size, weight, road conditions, and system limits apply.
Ford is also expanding off-road choices and introducing an F-150 Carhartt Edition expected in early 2027. These changes give truck shoppers more ways to choose a powertrain, equipment, and capability that fit their work and weekend needs.
