2027 Ford Super Duty Expands Its Factory Off-Road Choices

WHAT’S NEW WITH FORD

Heavy-duty truck buyers often ask one vehicle to do several jobs: tow during the week, carry equipment, handle difficult terrain, and still serve as comfortable transportation. Ford says its 2027 Super Duty updates respond directly to requests from tradespeople, fleet operators, and owners who wanted more factory-built off-road choices.

TREMOR REACHES MORE CONFIGURATIONS

For 2027, Ford is expanding availability of the Tremor Off-Road Package to the XL trim with the STX Appearance Package. Ford lists equipment including 35-inch tires, a factory lift, an electronic locking rear differential, skid plates, Trail Control, and Rock Crawl Mode. The change creates another entry point for buyers who want serious factory equipment without moving immediately into a high-end trim.

Ford is also making Tremor available on a Crew Cab with an eight-foot bed. That combination responds to owners who wanted both off-road preparation and the cargo length of a traditional work truck. Ford says the long-box configuration uses a 176-inch wheelbase and offers a 48-gallon fuel tank.

A CLEANER WORK-TRUCK OPTION

Another addition is the XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package. Ford describes it as a capability-focused setup with 35-inch tires, a factory ride-height increase, front limited-slip and rear electronic-locking differentials, performance shocks, trail-driving technology, skid plates, and a full-size matching spare. The exterior remains unbranded, which may appeal to companies that apply their own graphics.

Ford will continue a 33-inch XL off-road package as a separate choice. This creates a useful decision point: the largest tire and most aggressive equipment are not automatically necessary for every owner. Tire replacement cost, step-in height, turning needs, ride quality, payload, towing configuration, and garage clearance all deserve consideration.

MORE PREMIUM CHASSIS-CAB CHOICES

The 2027 lineup also extends Platinum trim to F-350, F-450, and F-550 Chassis Cab models. For specialized builds such as tow rigs, service bodies, luxury haulers, or custom recreational vehicles, that means premium cabin features can be paired with a chassis designed for upfitting.

The strongest part of Ford’s announcement is greater choice. A contractor, an off-road traveler, and a customer building a specialized chassis cab may all need very different Super Duty configurations. Before ordering, verify the exact engine, axle ratio, gross vehicle weight rating, payload, towing requirements, bed length, tire package, and upfit plans.
