Ford is giving Mustang enthusiasts something they have not seen in more than a decade: a new high-performance Mustang convertible built with serious track-inspired hardware. The Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible arrives as the most powerful open-air Mustang Ford has ever created.

At the heart of the car is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 795 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque on premium fuel. Power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, creating a combination designed for rapid shifts, dramatic acceleration and the unmistakable sound of a supercharged Mustang with the top down.

Track influence with open-road character

The Dark Horse SC convertible is not simply a powerful engine placed in a drop-top body. Ford Racing developed a specially tuned next-generation MagneRide suspension to help the car remain composed during aggressive cornering while still delivering a comfortable ride during everyday cruising.

That balance is central to the Mustang formula. Owners may want a car that feels exciting on a weekend drive or at a track event without giving up the ability to enjoy a longer road trip. The convertible adds another layer to that experience by opening the cabin to the road, the scenery and the sound of the V8.

A cabin designed around the driver

Performance seats receive firmer bolstering to support drivers through corners, along with added headroom for those wearing a helmet at the track. Ford's engineering team also considered comfort over longer distances, recognizing that a great performance car should remain enjoyable after the first hard acceleration run.

Space Grey and Black Onyx interior themes will be offered, giving buyers a choice between a lighter, more dramatic cabin and a darker, traditional performance look. Available comfort features help connect the Mustang's racing influence with the expectations of modern drivers.

The next chapter of Mustang performance

The Dark Horse SC convertible represents a distinct part of the Mustang family. It combines Ford Racing engineering, supercharged V8 power and the freedom of open-air driving in a package that looks beyond straight-line speed.

Ford says orders are expected to open this fall, with vehicles scheduled to reach dealer showrooms in spring 2027. For Mustang fans, that makes the coming months an exciting time to watch as more information becomes available.

Busam Ford has been part of the Ford story for generations, and vehicles like the Dark Horse SC show why the Mustang continues to inspire drivers. It respects the nameplate's heritage while pushing performance, technology and driving excitement into a new era.
